This is a free HTML editor that runs in Java, which means that it will run on any operating system supporting Java (Java 2 runtime version 1.4 required).
Including both a comprehensive HTML editor and a built-in FTP client, it can be used during the web design process from start to finish.
Its features for simplifying coding are too numerous to mention here. Suffice it to say that it is an undiscovered gem that deserves investigation.
Right-clicking on specific coding reveals many features, such as displaying the corresponding colour for a hexadecimal value; or on an image tag it will open a preview pane, letting you locate a new image, at which point the relative path is pasted into the image tag.
It isn't just for HTML either. It has support and features for various program languages, including Java, JavaScript and C++.
A nice feature is that everything from toolbars to menu options is 100 per cent customisable, with different users able to have different layout styles etc.
Also of note is the Beautify feature that analyses and restructures web pages to remove possible errors and optimise for all major browsers.
Do you agree?
Arachnophilia 5.2
The java-based Arachnophila 5.2 has some very good and strong features (such as the fully customizable macros and menus). Weak sides are the editor (very buggy undo/redo feature, no dragging of the selections) and the file dialogs have also a few shortcuts.
