This is the software publisher's description.
Uranium is lightweight and non intrusive software, constituted by only one executable file that includes all program's features. The installation is very fast and safe, because it doesn't modify any system configuration, as like as uninstallation. Finally, Uranium is optimized to use minimum system resources.
You can burn your data on all types of CD and DVD, including DVD+R Double Layer and DVD-RAM (8,5 GigaBytes). You can make remote backup procedures sending files and folders in zip compressed format to FTP/SFTP servers or by E-MAIL, also with encryption. You can use SFTP (SSH 2 FTP) protocol to do extremely safe ftp transfers. You can make backups from/to linux servers without using Samba. You can use Uranium like an advanced compression software, because it can manage ZIP 64 format to create zip archives of unlimited size, and you can protect your data with a zip file password or with a strong encryption procedure. You can do automatic updates of your web sites or download and backup entire web sites with Uranium FTP / SFTP features.
In the freeware version there is the greater part of the basic functions needed by an home user, to make backup on local pc, to external hard disks, to other network computers, etc. Some features are not available in the freeware version.
Do you agree?

You don't need a program to open zip files
If you're running a fairly recent version of Windows, it can open zip files natively. If you're not: Shame on you!
