Software publisher’s description of Safari
Safari is the world’s fastest and easiest-to-use web browser for Windows PCs and Macs. Safari is the fastest browser running on Windows, based on the industry standard iBench tests, rendering web pages up to twice as fast as IE 7 and up to 1.7 times faster than Firefox 2.
Safari joins iTunes in delivering Apple’s legendary user experience to both Windows and Mac users, as well as full support of open internet standards. Safari features easy-to-manage bookmarks, effortless browsing with easy-to-organise tabs, and a built-in RSS reader to quickly scan the latest news and information.
“We think Windows users are going to be really impressed when they see how fast and intuitive web browsing can be with Safari,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO (now deceased). “Hundreds of millions of Windows users already use iTunes, and we look forward to turning them on to Safari’s superior browsing experience, too.”
Safari has always been the fastest browser on the Mac and now it’s the fastest browser on Windows, loading and drawing web pages up to twice as fast as Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 and up to 1.7 times faster than Mozilla Firefox 2. The speed of Safari, combined with its intuitive user interface, lets users spend more time surfing the web and less time waiting for pages to load.
Other Safari features now available to Windows users include SnapBack, one-click access to an initial search query; resizable text fields; and private browsing to ensure that information about an individual’s browsing history isn’t stored.
Safari supports all modern internet standards so users can view websites as they were meant to be seen, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SVG and Java. Safari software updates are delivered seamlessly through Apple’s software update application, which automatically checks for updates.
The latest v5 features Safari Reader. This addition removes annoying ads and other visual distractions from online articles so you get the whole story and nothing but the story. It works like this: As you browse the web, Safari detects if you’re on a web page with an article. Click the Reader icon in the Smart Address Field, and the article appears instantly in one continuous, clutter-free view. You see every page of the article — whether two or 20. Onscreen controls let you email, print and zoom. Change the size of the text and Safari remembers it the next time you view an article in Safari Reader.
Do you agree?
Safari on XP
Just installed it on Windows XP and all the menus are blank, and so is most of the start page. That doesn't bother me though, as it seems to be nothing more than advertising Apple's business. Not a good introduction for Windows users.

uninstalled Safari after 40 mins, when it failed to open
I downloaded it expecting it to work fast. It's been a dead loss on a new high-spec ASUS VISTA laptop and pretty slow on my XP Pro SP2 machine. Really unimpressed and disappointed. Will stick with IE7 and Firefox (my first choice of browser).

Sheer Waste of Effort, Time and Bandwidth Downloading it.
This is a piece of utter crap software.
I don't know of mac, but i'm sure about Safari for windows.
Being a somewhat geek, I have till now downloaded and tried the following versions of Safari for Windows:
-Safari 3.1 beta2
-Safari 3.1 beta3
-Safari 3.1 beta4
For all the above, all I experienced was a retarded stinky browser which keeps crashing every 2 minutes and cannot even work properly on https authenticated websites,
So I am not taking any chance with this new much more bloated Safari for Windows v3.1.1 = 18.6Mb. Sorry apple, but u deserve it here...

very quick
i have only just loaded this program .....& am very pleased with how quick it is. The only thing i would like to have included would be an e mail address..... then i would have it as my default browser....

Standard vnunet advert
Can't vnunet do more that regurgitate press releases. Much though I dislike fartfux they could at least compre to 3.0.n rather than 2. Apple's 'legendary' non-experience for non-Mac users. And why not consider Opera or Chrome.

Who needs Safari?
If it is as good as iTunes, it deservers to be uninstalled.

Sure....
Ok, Safari isn't horrible. But this article makes it sound like a god send which is entirley incorrect. For many reasons,
A) It ignores IE8.
B) It ignores Chrome.
C) It ignores all of the crashes that windows users have when using Safari.
D) It ignores the insane amount of ram that Safari hogs.
E) It ignores that once again Apple products are inherintly bad when used on Windows.
V3.co.uk comment: The article is a description from the software publisher (Apple), not the opinion of V3.co.uk.

Safari 4
I've been using Safari instead of IE since reading about it in Computeractive and being fed-up with IE being so slow on my system. I have found it much faster, had no problems and I like some of the features like way it displays the top sites thumbnails - no downsides at all as far as I am concerned and now installing on my wife's laptop since IE has more-or-less given up and I can't fix it.

Comparing Aple's with oranges...
Can someone tell me how I'm supposed to trust any post in here when this one is recommending Safari as the fastest browser compared to outdated browsers? If its so much like iTunes no thanks for the bloat and I'm sticking with Chrome 14, IE 9 or FF 8.

Safari might pisses you off, but
if you are still using IE, then none of your remarks about Safari should be counted. IE is the most horrible browser ever invented in.. well, ever. I have used all of them (only used IE because the some stupid client insisted on developing their web application to only work properly on IE), and while I would highly recommend Firefox and Chrome for Windows user, I still highly favour Safari because the 3.1 version was highly impressive, and was much, much better than Firefox and Chrome then.
