No more 'unknown' track or artist labels in your audio player: ID3man is a handy utility that will automatically identify and insert the correct ID3 tag for any MP3 file you currently own.
ID3 tags are labels identifying tracks to audio players, and display details such as title and artist, along with other information such as album source, year of release etc.
Open the MP3 file you want identified, hit the search button and ID3man searches the database of its partner, Auditude and edits the ID3 tag if it finds the song.
Both ID3 v1 and v2 tags are downloaded for each audio track.
With more than three million songs currently in the online database, this isn't huge, but it's a good start and covers more than pop music. All sorts of styles are listed, both old and new.
You are granted 25 free identifications with this download, after which you have to pay for identifications. These are pre-purchased in blocks ranging from 450 ($4.95) to 5,000 ($24.95).
Version 4 adds support for tagging Windows Media Audio (WMA) files, but this requires Windows Media Player 9.
