Twitter has become the latest social networking craze and an ideal way of updating your friends and followers with information relevant to your daily experience. This can be a simple update of what you’re doing from hour to hour, observations or, for a business, it can be used to tell your users when a new feature has been added to your software release or similar.
Problem is, whereas the Mac has well designed clients such as Twitterific, the PC lacks a decent Twitter client. There are gadgets that enable you to receive Twitter updates through Google Desktop or the Vista Sidebar, but it’s better to have a simple tool that will enable you to receive updates via an update in your System Tray and drop in an update from time-to-time.
Blu is a brand new Twitter client where the design has been the main focus. It requires Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5, which means it’s a Vista and Windows 7 only release. It looks like a Mac product, too. The only downside is that this reliance on .NET Framework 3.5, means that it requires a significant amount of memory just to send and receive basic Twitter notes. This will probably improve as the application develops.
Blu will do everything you need from a Twitter client. View notes, read conversations, reply and add your own thoughts. You can follow the development of the app through Twitter too, offering your own feedback to the programmers.
Do you agree?
What about Adobe AIR?
In fact there are a lot of Windows Twitter clients available that make use of the system tray and show notification messages. Even better these clients use Adobe AIR (a much smaller install then the .NET Framework) and are also available on Mac and Linux. Checkout these files which been around for much longer then his app: TweetDeck, Twhirl, DestroyTwitter, AlertThingy, ...

.NET 3.5 runs on more than Vista and Windows 7
It'll run on XP too, which is still the most popular Windows desktop OS.
