Sitecom launches gaming router

Configured for major titles, but it is not dual-band

Sitecom has launched a five-port 11n wireless gigabit router optimised for gaming.

It claims new technology guarantees low-lag network gaming and uninterrupted VoIP calls.

The £109 WL-308-GM packs configurations for leading games and users will be able to update the firmware for new products as they come out.

But the device is not dual-band, supporting operation at the less crowded 5GHz band as well as 2.4GHz; nor is Sitecom's new WL-306 wireless gigabit router.

Sales manager Nick Kornet said he did not believe the extra cost of dual-band was justified by the benefits. Sitecom has concentrated on making its new products easy to install and use.

D-Link, Linksys, and Netgear have all recently launched dual-band routers.
