RealNetworks will release the next version of its RealPlayer media tool later this month. According to the firm it will play a range of media formats, and boasts the ability to download content direct from web sites with just one click.

The new RealPlayer was announced at the All Things Digital Conference by Rob Glaser, chairman at the firm, who introduced its "download this video" button, saying: "RealPlayer makes it one click simple. The new RealPlayer is a major step towards realising our vision of bringing great digital entertainment to more people on more screens around the world."

It will support the downloading and recording of most popular formats, Windows Media, Real and Quicktime, however, it will only download content that is DRM free.

The new RealPlayer will be available as a free download from RealPlayer.com
sometime in June, the firm said.
