Carlton Cards Crafts 2

Personalise T-shirts, stationery, greetings cards and even mousemats with these fun packages.

Mark Walsh

Crafts 2 has been rather crudely converted from American Greetings, the equivalent of Carlton Cards in the US. It has a 'toy-like' feel, which can be a good or bad thing depending on whether kids or adults are using the software. The simple interface does, however, disguise what is actually a very sophisticated package.

An annoying glitch in the software means that your Desktop's colours are altered, including the Taskbar, which changes to a nasty shade of turquoise - not elegant.

Crafts 2 leans towards the 3D side of craft and design, concentrating on creating clothing such as T-shirts and caps but also allowing you to design gift-wrapping, cards, posters and picture frames.

The layout is simple: choose a format and style and from there you are presented with a template that you can adapt to suit your needs. Sadly, it lacks the advanced picture-editing functions that many of its rivals have.

Verdict

The cheesy interface may seem annoying but it is easy to use and even includes a reminder function in the address book, where birthdays and other significant dates can be listed.
