Looking for a DVD drive? Maybe this one will suit your requirements.

Scott Colvey

It seems everyone wants a recordable DVD drive right now but faced with various competing standards and hundreds of different models, choosing one can be a bit of a minefield.

Well, we can aid the decision-making process: buy the Super Multi DVD Rewriter GSA-4081B. This latest model from LG Electronics is the best recordable DVD drive we've seen to date - and it's also one of the cheapest around.

It's an internal drive, so you'll need to open up your PC to fit it but that should only take about 10 minutes. The GSA-4081B will read from and write to all the current recordable DVD standards. Moreover, it supports eight-speed recording to the popular DVD+R format, which is currently the maximum. DVD-R/+RW writing is performed at four-speed, DVD-RAM at three-speed and two-speed to DVD-RW discs.

Naturally, it also records to CD-R and CD-RW discs (at 24- and 16-speed respectively). For just £99, that's incredible value.
