Sony Cybershot DSC-P72

A versatile and handy 3megapixel camera.

Emilie Martin

Digital cameras are not just becoming cheaper, they are also becoming easier to use and the 3megapixel Cybershot DSC-P72 from Sony is no exception.

A dial at the back of the camera allows you to switch between review, still and video modes. The camera also offers four resolutions, the highest of which rises to 2048 x 1536 pixels.

You can scroll through the options using the buttons to the left of the 1.5in LCD screen, which also lets you switch between flash modes and macro mode for close-ups. The 3x optical zoom will come in handy here.

There is also a selection of preconfigured scene modes to help you shoot in different lighting conditions.

These include two new modes - beach and snow - which make blues in your photo bluer and whites cleaner respectively. There's also a twilight mode to help you take snaps in limited light.

The DSC-P72 produced some good shots and comes bundled with a 16MB Memory Stick for storing your images.

If this isn't enough, you can extend memory capacity up to a huge 1GB, which will also store 22 minutes of video footage.
