<p>The leaks are a symptom of the cancer that has metastasized throughout Yahoo's body. Poor communication, an inability to honestly deal with problems, inept leadership, lousy strategic planning, poor execution, and a hiring system that favors importing talent (lots of Indians here on H1B visas) and out-sourcing it to Bangalore. </p> <p>The most recent layoffs made things worse, barely touching middle management and laying off a lot of good, smart people who did a lot of the actual work. Morale has just tanked; everyone's worried about the next round.</p> <p>Fix all those problems, you'll have a happy staff that feels no need to leak anything and few things to leak about. Go on vindictive witch hunts and you'll just end up scaring people into silence who are already pretty traumatized by two layoffs in a year.</p>

<p>That may have been the point, to scare everyone both in the company and still on the payroll until next month into silence. </p> <p>Most people outside the company by now have moved on. I think those who are left are already traumatized from watching their coworkers escorted out the door twice in one year, the last time two weeks before Christmas. Hard to believe the new CEO could scare them any more, with morale just completed cratered. </p>
