Take a look at the most popular applications on vnunet.com and you'll notice that they are generally free security tools. AVG Anti-Virus 7.5 dominates the 'most popular' list and, quite honestly, seems to have been stuck at 7.x for ages. The latest version has just been launched, along with a complete revamp, improved user-interface, anti-spyware and anti-rootkit support amongst other additional features.
Sadly the free version is still stuck on the previous 7.5 revision and doesn't share the new features found within the latest edition. However, if you've found that AVG 7.5 Free was useful on your system, perhaps it's time to support the devlopers by making the move across to the paid-for edition? AVG has always been a lightweight resource-friendly anti-virus application.
