There are a number of drive defragmentation tools, which are all designed to get the most from your internal or external hard drive. However, that's a problem if your laptop ships with a solid state drive. As these are becoming cheaper and more widely implemented (albeit in expensive laptops), you'll need a way of defragmenting the contents so you can get the most from the drive. Some may state that there's little point defragmenting a solid state drive, partly as they are never normally too large and also as there is no drive header and access is far faster than a standard hard drive.12 May 2009
