Only a short while back, it looked like most of the other browser developers were about to or had left the market and would leave Firefox to go on and dominate. In the last couple of years, Microsoft have re-entered the market with Internet Explorer 8, Google Chrome is now at v2 (and v3 in beta), Apple launched a Windows version of their Mac-based Safari web browser and Opera 10 has now entered first public beta-testing.

Opera 10 Preview is the first version of the browser for the public and ships with a host of new features which include Opera Turbo which is an optimisation feature which will speed up how you access web pages, particularly for slow network connections such as accessing the web via 3G. A Visual Tab feature will enable you to quickly see a pictorial image of open tabs, whilst we might have forgotten to mention that Opera 10 managed a 10/10 score in the Acid3 tests. That's almost unheard of, making this a browser worth investigating.
