Current wireless technologies enable users to connect to the Internet quickly and easily, from almost any location. However, it hasn't always been so straightforward. Internet service providers used to manufacture suites that were designed to work specifically with the provider, shipping with all the applications required to access the Internet via a dial up connection. These suites were usually equipped with a browser, email client and an IRC client among other tools.
